FAQ

What Is THCa?

THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in raw hemp and cannabis flower. It's the precursor to THC, the compound responsible for cannabis's well-known psychoactive effects. While THCa flower looks, smells, and tastes much like traditional cannabis, it won't produce intoxicating effects until it's heated.

How Is THCa Different from THC?

In its raw form, THCa is non-intoxicating. When exposed to heat through smoking, vaping, or baking, it undergoes a process called decarboxylation, converting into Delta-9 THC. This conversion is what creates the effects most people associate with cannabis.

What Can You Expect from THCa Flower?

The experience depends on how the flower is consumed. Once heated, THCa converts into THC and delivers effects based on the strain's cannabinoid content and terpene profile. At CloudChaser, we source premium U.S.-grown hemp with carefully selected genetics to provide a consistent, high-quality experience.

How Much THCa Should You Use?

Everyone responds differently to cannabinoids. Your ideal amount depends on factors such as your tolerance, body chemistry, previous cannabis experience, and desired effects. If you're new to THCa, start with a small amount and increase gradually until you find what works best for you. Even experienced users should be mindful of the potency once THCa has been heated.

Is THCa Legal?

Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp products are federally legal if they contain no more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis. THCa hemp products that meet this requirement are federally compliant. However, state laws can differ, so availability and legality vary by location. Be sure to review your local regulations before purchasing or using THCa products.

Will THCa Show Up on a Drug Test?

Yes. Although raw THCa is not intoxicating, consuming or heating it can result in THC metabolites that may be detected during drug testing. Detection times vary depending on the individual, frequency of use, and the type of test:

  • Saliva: Up to 24 hours
  • Blood: Approximately 1–2 days
  • Urine: Typically 3–30 days
  • Hair: Up to 90 days

If you're subject to drug testing, it's safest to avoid THCa products altogether, as no detection window can be guaranteed.

Where Does CloudChaser Source Its THCa Flower?

We partner with licensed California farms that prioritize quality over quantity. Every harvest is carefully cultivated, professionally handled, and selected for its cannabinoid content, terpene profile, and overall consistency.
